The Indian Army on campaign 1900-1939

Indian Army Medals 1900-1939

With some exceptions, medals and decorations issued during this period were individually named to the recipient who qualified for them, regardless if he was a Major-General or Lance-Naik. Medals were named in impressed capitals (or engraved script in some cases) around the rim, while the 1914 and 1914-15 Stars were named on the reverse. As a result, every medal is unique, and this allows for an unparalleled opportunity to uncover and understand the lives and careers of these medal who fought and died so long ago.
